“Tiger Woods Takes Hiatus After Seventh Back Surgery”

Date:

Tiger Woods has announced a hiatus from competitive golf following a recent back surgery. The surgery, his seventh on his back, involved replacing a disc in his spine. Over the past two years, Woods has undergone three major operations, including surgeries on his Achilles and ankle.

Despite winning the Masters in 2019 after an 11-year gap without a Major title, Woods has been hampered by injuries. While he was able to host the Hero World Challenge golf tournament in the Bahamas, he acknowledged that a return to the fairways is a distant prospect.

Reflecting on his recovery process, Woods humorously mentioned playing in 25 events across tours but then emphasized the importance of gradually returning to the game before planning his schedule. He recently received clearance to resume chipping and putting after a six-week recovery period.

Looking ahead, Woods aims to break the PGA record for the most tournament wins, currently tied with Sam Snead at 82 victories. Notah Begay III, a close friend of Woods, highlighted the challenge of walking around the course as a significant hurdle in his comeback journey.
