Lawmaker Urges Prince Andrew Testify on Trafficking Scandal

Date:

Prince Andrew is facing serious allegations of potential involvement in a trafficking network linked to his associate, Jeffrey Epstein, according to a prominent US lawmaker. Suhas Subramanyam, a member of the congressional committee investigating the prosecution of Epstein, is urging the Duke of York to testify before US officials regarding the trafficking of young women associated with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Despite Prince Andrew’s consistent denial of any awareness or participation in criminal activities, Subramanyam has launched a scathing attack, claiming that the prince likely possesses crucial information about how Epstein and Maxwell trafficked these women. Subramanyam emphasized the importance of justice being served not only for Andrew but also for other wealthy and influential individuals involved in such crimes.

The congressman highlighted the significance of Andrew coming forward to clarify his position and provide testimony to address the allegations against him. US prosecutors have indicated that Prince Andrew has been uncooperative in their investigations, with Geoffrey Berman, the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, confirming the lack of cooperation from the royal.

Andrew, who has vehemently denied accusations of engaging in inappropriate activities with Virginia Giuffre, a purported ‘teen sex slave’ of Epstein, maintains that he did not witness any suspicious behavior while associating with Epstein. The ongoing scandal has led to Andrew relinquishing his Duke of York title and remaining honors to avoid further controversy within the royal family.

Pressure is mounting on Prince Andrew amid concerns over the lease of his Windsor residence and allegations regarding discrepancies in the rental agreement submitted to the Land Registry. Epstein, convicted in 2008 for soliciting prostitution from a minor, passed away in 2019 while facing sex trafficking charges, while Maxwell was convicted in 2021 of sex trafficking minors and conspiracy offenses.

As the scandal continues to dominate headlines, Prince Andrew finds himself under increasing scrutiny, with calls for him to vacate his Windsor property amplifying.
