South Wales faces the most severe conditions, with a weather alert in place until 9 pm. Anticipated heavy rainfall in the region poses significant risks, with 50-80mm of rain expected, potentially reaching up to 100mm due to the already waterlogged terrain.
Additionally, the likelihood of power cuts, isolated communities, and hazardous fast-flowing floodwaters heightens the danger to residents. Yellow warnings are prevalent in South Wales and southwestern England, where up to 60mm of rain is projected, compared to the higher-risk areas in South Wales.
Further warnings cover central and northern parts of Wales, north-west England, and northeast England, with potential rainfall exceeding 100mm in elevated areas. Travel disruptions are expected, emphasizing the need for caution and awareness. The Met Office has extended its rain warnings for the north-east of England until 3 am tomorrow, anticipating up to 50mm of rain, which could lead to travel disturbances.
