The Toronto Blue Jays have placed six-time All-Star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on the seven-day injured list due to concussion symptoms and have called up outfielder Daz Cameron from Triple-A Buffalo to fill his spot. In a corresponding move, right-hander Lazaro Estrada has been designated for assignment to make space on the 40-man roster.
Additionally, the Blue Jays have recalled left-hander Ricky Tiedemann from Buffalo and have sent right-hander Chase Lee down to Triple-A.
Guerrero had to exit Friday’s game against the Yankees after a collision with New York rookie shortstop George Lombard Jr. during a chaotic play at third base in the sixth inning. Lombard attempted to leap over Guerrero, but his knee and thigh made contact with Guerrero’s head, causing his helmet to come off. Despite the collision, Guerrero managed to run home and score the tying run before being replaced by Charles McAdoo at first base in the seventh inning.
Following the game, manager John Schneider mentioned that Guerrero experienced a headache, which persisted into Saturday. Guerrero, who currently holds a .263 batting average with seven home runs and 46 RBIs, is a key player for the Blue Jays.
Tiedemann, who has appeared in seven games with a 0-1 record and a 6.43 ERA across three minor league levels this season, has been called up to provide pitching depth for the team.
