By 3pm, the maps show snow expected in Kent and London, with rain also forecasted along the east coasts of England and Scotland. Later at 6pm, snow is still projected for London and southern regions, potentially reaching cities like Southampton.
Moving northward, Birmingham, Stoke-on-Trent, and Manchester are also expected to see snow by this time. The snowfall is anticipated to extend to Northern Ireland and Scotland. Snow coverage maps illustrate the widespread impact of this blizzard, covering Northern Ireland, East Anglia, the Midlands, the southeast, and parts of northern England. The Scottish Highlands and areas near the Scottish-English border could also experience snow, with up to 3cm expected to accumulate in the southeast, including London.
According to the Met Office, temperatures are forecasted to feel colder leading up to the New Year, with wintry showers possible in certain areas. The period from December 23 to January 1 is expected to transition to more settled conditions, with colder temperatures due to a strengthening easterly wind. While dry weather is expected, occasional wintry showers, especially in high ground areas, may occur. Temperatures are likely to be below average, with frost potential in the north. Towards the New Year, wet weather may move into parts of the UK as high pressure shifts westward.
