“Smaller Mobile Networks Outshine Big Four in Customer Satisfaction”

Date:

A recent report from consumer group Which? reveals that the major mobile networks, EE, Vodafone, Three, and O2, are falling short in overall performance compared to their smaller competitors. After surveying over 5,000 smartphone users nationwide, the study found that lesser-known networks excel in providing better value and customer service.

Which? conducted the survey to assess providers’ ability to meet customer expectations. The results indicated that the established “Big Four” networks continue to trail behind many smaller rivals in terms of customer satisfaction and service quality.

Leading the rankings were Talkmobile, followed by Tesco Mobile, Giffgaff, and SMARTY. Among the major providers, EE performed the best, ranking ninth, while O2 and Three were among the lowest-rated networks.

The report highlighted price as a significant factor, with Big Four customers paying an average of £16 per month for a SIM-only deal, compared to just £9 for users on smaller networks. Despite the lower prices, smaller providers often utilize major networks’ infrastructure, offering comparable signal coverage and service quality at more affordable rates.

Switching providers is simpler than perceived, with some customers able to transition in as little as 10 minutes. One Which? member shared their experience of switching from O2 to SMARTY, saving around £200 annually on their mobile plan.

Natalie Hitchins, Which? Head of Home Products and Services, emphasized that smaller providers consistently outperform major mobile firms by offering superior customer service and cost-effective deals. She encouraged dissatisfied customers or those seeking to save money to consider switching to a provider that offers better value.
