Channel 5’s beloved figure from Our Yorkshire Farm, Amanda Owen, recently shared a personal story about a humorous mix-up that left her in tears of laughter. During an interview on the Walking the Dog with Emily Dean podcast, Amanda disclosed a funny incident that occurred at a family celebration where she mistakenly gave her daughter Violet a birthday card for becoming a teenager, only to realize Violet had already passed that milestone the previous year.
In addition to this light-hearted family moment, Amanda also reflected on the challenges she has faced, including the loss of her father when she was 18 years old. This experience taught her the importance of listening to others, a lesson she wished she had learned earlier.
Amanda and her family first appeared on television in 2011 on ITV’s documentary show, The Dales, showcasing their life on a farm in the Yorkshire Dales. Their journey to fame accelerated in 2018 with their own series, Our Yorkshire Farm, on Channel 5. The show followed Amanda and her ex-spouse Clive as they raised their nine children and managed a 2,000-acre sheep farm.
Although the series concluded in 2021, the Owen family returned to television screens with a new program called Our Farm Next Door in October last year. The Channel 4 series captures the family’s efforts to renovate a rundown farmhouse, with the second season airing earlier this year after the success of the initial episodes.
