Google Rolls Out Ability to Change Gmail Addresses, Allows Simultaneous Operation

Date:

Millions of Gmail users are in for a significant update as Google announces the rollout of the ability to change email addresses. This update allows users to modify their Google Account username, the part before @gmail.com, used for various services like Gmail, Photos, and Drive.

The new feature ensures that both the original and changed email addresses can operate simultaneously, guaranteeing that users receive emails sent to either address. Google reassures users that their stored data, including photos, messages, and emails, will remain intact.

Although this update is currently available only in the US, users in other regions are advised to monitor their settings for the feature’s arrival. To change the email address, US users can access their Google account settings, navigate to personal info, select email, then Google account email, and choose a new unique username. It’s important to note that only one new address can be created per year.
