Anthony Joshua is keeping fans on their toes regarding his boxing comeback, with the decision on his return likely to be announced just 48 hours before the fight. Joshua has been out of action since suffering a knockout defeat at the hands of Daniel Dubois at Wembley last September. He is aiming for a warm-up bout before setting his sights on a highly anticipated showdown with domestic rival Tyson Fury in the upcoming year. The former two-time heavyweight world champion is even considering being added to an undercard event before Christmas at short notice.
Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed, “We will make a decision this week on his next fight. If he does fight this year, it might come as a surprise, with details being revealed just before the fight week.” Hearn mentioned that preparations are in place with potential opponents for a comeback fight, emphasizing the laid-back approach of simply weighing in and stepping into the ring without prior hype or ticket sales.
Regarding a possible match with YouTuber Jake Paul, Hearn clarified that while discussions have taken place, no official offer has been made. Despite the interest, Joshua’s team is not currently considering a bout with Paul. Meanwhile, the rematch between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn is scheduled for November 15 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with fans able to watch the event on DAZN PPV for £24.99 or for free with a DAZN Ultimate subscription.
Joshua is in the process of assembling a new coaching team after parting ways with trainer Ben Davison. The British boxer recently visited Oleksandr Usyk’s training camp in Spain as he prepares for the next phase of his career. Joshua has had notable trainers in the past, including Tony Sims, Rob McCracken, Robert Garcia, and Derrick James, before transitioning to Fury’s former stable.
