“Two Britons Strike Gold with £1 Million Premium Bond Wins”

Date:

In the latest update for January 2026, the Premium Bond results have been revealed, bringing good news to two fortunate individuals who are now £1 million richer to kickstart their New Year.

The initial £1 million winner hails from Suffolk and holds the maximum investment of £50,000 in Premium Bonds. Their winning bond number, 570QM451332, was obtained back in February 2024.

The second £1 million victor resides in Berkshire and also maintains £50,000 in Premium Bonds. Their lucky bond number, 377PG290829, was secured in December 2019.

Premium Bonds, a popular savings option offered by National Savings & Investment (NS&I), provide a unique twist by entering investors into a monthly prize draw instead of offering a fixed interest rate on their savings.

The prize amounts in Premium Bonds range from £25 to £1 million, with the odds of winning varying. While smaller prizes are more abundant, there are only two £1 million prizes given out each month. Individuals can hold up to £50,000 in Premium Bonds, with each pound invested corresponding to a distinct bond number.

The chance of winning a prize with each bond is 22,000 to 1. Winners are notified via email or text message by NS&I and can opt to receive their prize money directly into their bank account or reinvest it in Premium Bonds. Checking for winnings can be done through the NS&I online prize checker tool or the Premium Bonds prize checker app.

Currently, the prize fund rate, akin to an interest rate for Premium Bonds, stands at 3.60%, a rate that has remained consistent since the August 2025 draw. Despite a slight decline in the prize fund rate recently, resulting in fewer larger prizes and more smaller prizes awarded, the monthly £1 million prizes continue to be distributed. Over 24 million individuals are presently invested in Premium Bonds.

Recent data disclosed by This is Money highlighted Hampshire and the Isle of Wight as particularly lucky regions, with 42 residents winning £100,000 prizes in 2025. Essex and Outer London also saw a significant number of £100,000 prize winners, with Norwich and Cumbria celebrating £1 million jackpot victories last year.
