Bus, train, and flight services may also face disruptions, urging travelers to stay updated with travel companies’ advisories. A cold night is anticipated, especially in southern England and Wales, with temperatures expected to reach -1°C, contributing to bitterly cold conditions across the UK.
As the day progresses, temperatures are set to decrease sharply, particularly in the southeast, raising concerns of icy patches and fog formation overnight. Friday will witness additional rain and strong winds sweeping across the UK throughout the day.
Chief Meteorologist Matthew Lehnert warns of continued unsettled weather into the upcoming weekend and following week. The forecast predicts heavy rainfall in areas like south Wales, southwest England, Cumbria, southwest Scotland, and Northern Ireland, with 20-30 mm of rain expected within 6-9 hours. Given the already saturated ground, localized flooding and travel disruptions are possible, especially in western regions.
