Jet2 is gearing up to introduce three new flight routes to a popular city break destination known for its historic old town and festive Christmas market.
Commencing on November 27, Jet2 will operate flights from Edinburgh to Tallinn, followed by flights from Manchester and Birmingham on November 28. These seasonal flights offer travelers the opportunity to experience Tallinn during its picturesque winter season, often characterized by icy weather leading up to Christmas. Tickets are available from just £30 for December travel.
Described by Jet2 as resembling a “medieval fairytale,” Tallinn’s UNESCO-listed old town features charming historic squares, cobblestone streets, and vibrant architecture. It is an ideal place for leisurely strolls, admiring well-preserved structures, and indulging in local delights like black coffee and sweet pirukad pastries.
During the winter months, the old town transforms into a magical setting adorned with Christmas lights and occasional snowfall. The Christmas Market, open from November 21 to December 28, offers traditional crafts, amusement rides, and a festive land train for visitors to enjoy.
At the heart of the square stands what locals claim to be Europe’s earliest Christmas tree, a tradition dating back to 1441. After exploring the square, visitors can savor traditional Christmas treats such as gingerbread, black pudding, cabbage, and the popular spicy sausage verivorst.
Tallinn’s city center boasts remarkable landmarks, including the distinctive Alexander Nevsky Cathedral with its onion domes and the medieval Toompea Castle, now serving as Estonia’s parliament. Kadriorg Palace, built in 1718 by Russian Tsar Peter I, offers a baroque masterpiece housing the Kadriorg Art Museum amidst a stunning winter landscape.
