Irish sprinter She’s Quality has tragically passed away in a hospital following a pelvic fracture sustained during a race at the Breeders’ Cup held in Del Mar, California. The talented four-year-old filly, under the ownership of Jack Davison from Dunboyne, Co Meath, had showcased remarkable performances, securing over £250,000 in winnings and achieving four second-place finishes in Group races throughout 2025.
Having been considered a strong contender for the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, She’s Quality faced an unfortunate turn of events as she swiftly fell behind in the race, prompting her jockey Colin Keane to pull her up on the back stretch while the rest of the field continued to distance themselves from her.
Subsequently, She’s Quality was promptly attended to by veterinarians after being dismounted, with concerns raised about her right hind lameness. Despite no visible signs of injury on her limb, she was transported to a hospital for further evaluation by veterinary experts.
The following day, trainer Davison shared the heartbreaking news of She’s Quality’s demise, revealing that the filly had suffered a pelvic fracture during the race. Despite receiving immediate and thorough care at San Luis Rey Equine Hospital post-race, her condition deteriorated overnight, leading to the difficult decision to humanely euthanize her.
