A gym cleaner, Lee Drury, was caught hiding his phone to spy on women during their showers. The incident occurred on June 19, 2023, when a woman discovered Drury’s phone concealed in the ceiling and promptly reported it to gym staff in Tonbridge, Kent.
Although Drury’s phone matched the description provided, a search yielded no incriminating images. However, a thorough forensic analysis revealed that he had accessed a camera app while the woman was showering. Additionally, an illegal image of a child was found on his device.
Subsequent investigations led to the seizure of another phone owned by Drury containing more indecent images. Despite facing multiple sexual offense charges, Drury denied any wrongdoing and was released on bail by magistrates pending further legal proceedings.
In a disturbing turn of events, Drury was arrested again in August 2024 for engaging in explicit communication with someone he believed was a 14-year-old. Video evidence from police interviews showed Drury consistently responding with ‘no comment.’ Following a trial at Maidstone Crown Court, Drury, aged 35, was convicted of voyeurism and producing indecent child images.
Regarding online offenses, Drury had previously pleaded guilty to various charges related to attempting sexual communication with a child. On September 4, Drury, residing in Wrotham, Kent, was sentenced to four years and six months in prison and issued a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Natalie Armstrong, an Investigator with Kent Police’s Offender Management Unit, condemned Drury’s actions, emphasizing his failure to comply with restrictions meant to ensure public safety. Armstrong highlighted Drury’s blatant disregard for the seriousness of his actions, which had violated the privacy and security of women and endangered children online.
