A tragic incident resulted in the death of a woman named Bernadette Delmotte after she became trapped in her car’s automatic window, causing suffocation. The 60-year-old was discovered in her Fiat 500 in Bissy-sur-Fley, France, on June 13. Reports suggest that while cleaning the car, Delmotte accidentally triggered the window mechanism while trying to stop the vehicle from rolling back due to a missed handbrake.
According to a friend named Béatrice, Delmotte attempted to prevent the car from moving further by reaching through the open window, inadvertently activating the automatic window control, leading to the fatal outcome. Concern arose when Delmotte did not show up for a planned dinner with friends, prompting them to visit her residence where they found her lifeless body. Delmotte, a retired coach and training consultant, was mourned by her loved ones.
In disbelief, Bernadette’s brother François Delmotte expressed his shock at the circumstances surrounding his sister’s death, highlighting the confusion initially experienced by both himself and the authorities. He mentioned reaching out to Fiat to address the incident but emphasized that seeking compensation was not his priority. An autopsy confirmed that Bernadette died from asphyxiation, and her passing was ruled accidental.
