Double Cold Weather Payments have been distributed to certain households this week following snowfall in various parts of the UK. Cold Weather Payments, valued at £25 each, are granted whenever the average temperature in your area drops to zero degrees or below for seven consecutive days. In the event of multiple cold spells, multiple payments may be received.
A total of 18 postcode areas have now qualified for two Cold Weather Payments, amounting to £50, triggered on December 30 and January 6. The Mirror recently disclosed the 451 postcode areas eligible for Cold Weather Payments this year. Individuals receiving specific benefits or mortgage support are eligible for these payments.
Payments are typically deposited directly into your bank account within 14 working days if you are due to receive them. However, application is necessary if you have a baby or if a child under five years old joins your household. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) administers Cold Weather Payments, and the program will continue until March 31, 2026.
