After over a decade of hosting interviews with famous individuals over some fried chicken on her popular YouTube show called “Chicken Shop Date,” Amelia Dimoldenberg has revealed that she is bringing the show to a close. In an Instagram post, Dimoldenberg expressed her gratitude to her followers for joining her on this journey and finding joy in the episodes. She mentioned that while she never thought she would end “Chicken Shop Date,” she feels it’s time to move on to new adventures.
Dimoldenberg initiated the show 12 years ago by interviewing musicians in the UK’s underground rap scene. Over time, she expanded her guest list to include celebrities like Keke Palmer, Conan O’Brien, Paul McCartney, and Jack Harlow, amassing nearly 3.5 million subscribers on her YouTube channel.
“Chicken Shop Date” features Dimoldenberg going on informal dates with celebrities at a fried chicken shop in London, where she asks a mix of flirty, humorous, and sometimes awkward questions, creating a casual and lively atmosphere more akin to a first date than a traditional interview. Some encounters, such as her chat with Andrew Garfield in 2024, even led to playful flirting.
Among her interviews are Canadians like Ryan Reynolds, who had a fun exchange with Dimoldenberg correcting him about his wife Blake Lively’s character on “Gossip Girl.” Additionally, Shania Twain, in her 2023 appearance, disclosed that she never actually met Brad Pitt, despite referencing him in her hit song “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”
Dimoldenberg’s YouTube success has opened doors for her beyond the chicken shop setting, allowing her to cover events like the Oscars, where she interviewed another Canadian, Hudson Williams. While her future plans post-“Chicken Shop Date” remain undisclosed, she is reported to be developing a young adult drama series for the BBC.
Before bidding farewell to the show, Dimoldenberg hinted at “a few final dates” to come.
