Cheryl Tweedy has made her first public appearance following her ex-boyfriend Liam Payne’s funeral and the distressing experience with her stalker. Recently, Daniel Bannister, a 50-year-old stalker of the Girls Aloud singer, was sentenced to a year in prison for violating a restraining order.
This marks the third time Bannister has been imprisoned for attempting to contact Cheryl, who is 42 years old. He has also been issued a lifetime restraining order. Cheryl was left shocked and fearful when Bannister showed up at her Buckinghamshire residence for the fourth time in June, as revealed during the court proceedings at Reading Crown Court.
After a challenging period, Cheryl was seen attending the Hadestown Gala Night alongside her friends Kimberley Walsh and Nadine Coyle. She was there to support her bandmate Nicola Roberts, who is currently starring in the West End musical until January next year.
Cheryl appeared at the Gala Night in central London wearing a stylish autumn outfit, complemented by a new hairstyle that frames her face, exuding a radiant smile.
Following the sentencing of her stalker, Cheryl’s legal representative, Leandra Smith, read a statement describing how the repeated incidents have left Cheryl feeling constantly watched and fearful whenever she leaves her home. She emphasized the impact on her young child, necessitating increased security and reliance on family and friends for support.
Cheryl’s public appearance comes in the wake of the tragic death of her former partner, Liam Payne. The former One Direction star passed away on October 16, 2024, after a fatal fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The cause of death was confirmed as multiple traumatic injuries resulting from the fall.
Cheryl and Liam were in a relationship from 2016 to 2018 and share a son named Bear, born in 2017. Despite their breakup in 2018, they have continued to co-parent their son, who is now eight years old. Cheryl was last seen attending Liam’s funeral in November last year.
