An assault involving a Russian missile resulted in the death of 10 individuals on Tuesday in a village situated in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region, as per Ukrainian authorities.
“This morning, there was a ruthless attack by the Russians at a bustling crossroad in Pechenihy, Kharkiv region — an area housing a post office and shops, surrounded exclusively by residential structures,” revealed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on X.
Zelenskyy shared images of a demolished building, burning cars, and emergency personnel carrying injured individuals on stretchers.
<p"We will certainly retaliate against this Russian airstrike," he affirmed. The governor of the neighboring region, Oleh Syniehubov, stated on the Telegram messaging platform that an additional 17 people sustained injuries during the assault.
At present, there has been no official statement from Russia regarding the incident.
The strike on the village resulted in the destruction of 10 private residences, a café, a post office, a store, and at least seven vehicles, according to Syniehubov.
The Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office indicated that Russia employed two small Banderol cruise missiles based on initial findings.
A local official informed the state broadcaster Suspilne that the airstrikes targeted the central area of the village, where the café, post office, and shops are situated.
Extensive Drone Offensive Launched by Ukraine
In a significant move, Ukraine initiated an attack with 620 drones directed at Moscow and its vicinity early on Tuesday, as revealed by the city’s mayor, marking one of Kyiv’s most substantial air assaults on the region.
Reportedly, Russian forces managed to intercept 180 of the drones over the Moscow area, with emergency services responding to the crash sites, as stated by Mayor Sergei Sobyanin on Telegram, while refraining from disclosing details regarding casualties or damages.
The drones targeted a warehouse owned by the Russian e-commerce entity Wildberries and other facilities near Moscow, as per regional Governor Andrei Vorobyov. He added that at least three individuals, including a 10-year-old girl, were injured in the region.
