“Brazilian Couple Found Dead in Scalding Bathtub Mystery”

Date:

The family of a woman who tragically passed away in a scalding bathtub with her boyfriend in Brazil has expressed concerns about her mysterious death. Ana Carolina Silva, 41, a nail salon owner, and military officer Jeferson Luiz Sagaz, 37, were discovered lifeless in a motel room in Sao Jose on August 11.

The couple had spent the day celebrating their daughter’s birthday at a food park and later partied at a nightclub before checking into the Dallas Motel after dropping off their child at Jeferson’s sister’s house. They were last seen around 11:30 pm, as per local reports.

Their absence the next day led to their family alerting the authorities. The couple was found deceased in the bathtub of their motel room, with no visible injuries. The water temperature was extremely high at 50°C, and a space heater was on high, according to the police.

A toxicology report revealed traces of cocaine and significantly high blood alcohol levels in both Jeferson and Ana. Investigators, after reviewing CCTV footage and the couple’s vehicle, concluded that they had lost consciousness in the scorching water.

Chief Medical Examiner Andressa Boer Fronza stated that the cause of their deaths was exogenous poisoning, leading to heatstroke, severe dehydration, thermal collapse, organ failure, and death.

The report highlighted that the substances, in combination with alcohol and extreme heat, heightened the risk. Sixteen forensic tests conducted by the Civil Police ruled out potential causes of death like electric shock, drowning, carbon monoxide poisoning, or foul play.

Despite the findings, Ana’s family suspects that she may have been coerced into taking drugs and is demanding justice. They vehemently deny that she was a drug user and have raised concerns about potential forced ingestion or poisoning.

In a passionate statement, the family expressed their indignation at the spread of misinformation and called for a thorough and impartial investigation to preserve Ana’s memory and dignity.

Chief inspector Felipe Simao, in a press conference, emphasized that the couple did not have a drug habit, despite their active social life. He noted that there was no history of violence and speculated that their physical constitution may not have been compatible with cocaine and alcohol use.

Jefferson and Ana Carolina, described as devoted parents and sociable by friends, had been together for almost two decades. Their daughter is now under the care of relatives following the tragic turn of events during her birthday celebrations.
