Anthony Joshua has vowed not to hold back against Jake Paul and has declared that only a knockout will satisfy his desire for aggression. The former heavyweight champion will face the YouTuber in what is expected to be a one-sided matchup in Miami on December 19, with Joshua set to earn up to £70 million for what many view as a glorified sparring session. Joshua, who will be trained by Oleksandr Usyk’s team for the fight, emphasized that he is focused on securing an early finish rather than just a victory. He stated, “It’s not enough for me to simply defeat him; I must knock him out.”
“I intend to inflict damage on him physically and mentally. My goal is to demonstrate my superiority in the ring and I will continue to do so until I retire from fighting. I am determined to execute my strategy with precision. I want to cause him harm; I want to inflict significant damage on him during the bout.”
Acknowledging Paul’s experience with 13 professional fights since his debut in 2020, Joshua commended his opponent, recognizing him as a serious competitor. Reflecting on his own journey in boxing, Joshua highlighted the importance of not underestimating anyone in the sport.
On the other hand, Paul expressed his determination to pull off a major upset in boxing history, emphasizing his belief in his power and timing. Confident in his ability to deliver unexpected blows, Paul warned Joshua to be cautious, predicting a knockout victory in the fourth or fifth round and stating, “I am prepared to go to any lengths to win this fight.”
