Former Haas team principal, Guenther Steiner, has suggested that Lewis Hamilton’s tenure at Ferrari could be in jeopardy following a lackluster debut season. Steiner believes that young talent Oliver Bearman could potentially step into Hamilton’s shoes at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Speculation around Hamilton’s future has intensified due to his underwhelming performance at Ferrari. Steiner indicated that if Hamilton’s struggles persist into the next season, the seven-time world champion may see an early exit from the Italian team.
Bearman, who previously substituted for Carlos Sainz at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix and is part of Ferrari’s Driving Academy, has impressed with Haas this year. Steiner, endorsing Bearman as a prospect to succeed Hamilton, emphasized the young driver’s standout qualities.
In a recent segment on ‘The Red Flags podcast,’ Steiner expressed confidence in Bearman’s abilities, suggesting that if Ferrari does not secure him a seat in 2027, other top teams will likely vie for his talents. Bearman’s consistent performances have garnered attention, with a string of impressive races propelling him up the Drivers’ Championship Standings.
While Ferrari has faced a challenging season without a victory so far in 2025, Hamilton continues to seek his first podium after 21 races. In contrast, his teammate Charles Leclerc has managed several podium finishes, highlighting the team’s mixed performance.
The sentiment shared by Steiner aligns with Sky Sports F1 pitlane reporter Ted Kravitz, who also believes in Bearman’s inevitable rise to Ferrari. Despite the ongoing speculation, Hamilton has hinted at staying with Ferrari for the foreseeable future, citing his existing contract.
