Halfords to Close Stores on Boxing Day & New Year’s Day

Date:

Halfords has declared that it will shut down all its stores on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day this year. The automotive retailer aims to provide its employees across the UK with a much-needed break to spend quality time with their families. In addition to being closed on Christmas Day, Halfords will maintain its regular operating hours throughout the festive season.

Henry Birch, the CEO of Halfords, expressed gratitude towards the staff for their hard work throughout the year, emphasizing the importance of allowing them to unwind and enjoy time with their loved ones. Birch highlighted the significance of closing the stores on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day as a gesture of appreciation and to ensure that the teams return rejuvenated for the upcoming year.

Following Halfords’ positive financial performance in the past six months, with a 9% increase in cycling sales and a 3.3% rise in total revenues reaching £893.3 million, the company continues to excel. Moreover, the motoring and autocentres sectors also experienced growth in revenues. Notably, other retailers like Home Bargains and Aldi have similarly opted to keep their stores closed on these public holidays to allow their staff to relax and enjoy the festive period.
