The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain over the weekend, which may lead to hazardous driving conditions.
Meteorologists have cautioned that a low-pressure system will move across southern and central parts of the UK on Saturday, bringing heavy rain and strong winds, particularly affecting Wales, the Midlands, and southern England. Rainfall amounts between 20-30mm are expected in England and Wales, with localized areas possibly receiving up to 50mm or more.
A yellow weather warning for rain is in effect for southern England today, and another warning has been issued for Monday, covering the south coast, the West Country, and South Wales. The Met Office’s chief meteorologist, Jason Kelly, highlighted the potential for strong winds, heavy rain, and possible flooding, along with the likelihood of snow over higher ground in northeast England on Saturday.
The weather is expected to improve on Sunday, with drier and colder conditions, followed by the approach of another weather system from the Atlantic towards the end of the weekend. The forecast for the upcoming days includes heavy rain and brisk winds on Monday, with sunny intervals and showers on Tuesday and Wednesday, mainly in the western regions. Temperature levels are expected to remain around average during this period.
