A man who fabricated the abduction of his infant son has admitted to the killing of the baby. Yesterday, Jake Haro in Riverside County pleaded guilty to three charges, including murder, falsely reporting to the police, and endangering a child.
This development occurred two months after seven-month-old Emmanuel was last seen alive, prompting an intensive search for his remains by law enforcement officers. Emmanuel’s mother, Rebecca, was also taken into custody on suspicion of murder and providing false information, but it remains unclear whether she has entered a plea.
The incident began on August 14 when Rebecca reported her son’s alleged kidnapping from a parking lot near a sports store in Yucaipa. She claimed that while attending to the child, she was approached by someone and lost consciousness, only to wake up and find him missing, along with injuries she said she sustained during the incident.
However, discrepancies in Rebecca’s account led investigators to doubt her story, eventually leading to the couple’s arrest on suspicion of murder. Subsequently, it was revealed that Emmanuel likely died days before the false kidnapping report was made. Jake was temporarily released from jail to assist in the search for Emmanuel’s remains, with the last confirmed sighting of the child dating back to August 5 according to PEOPLE.
