In a few days, I will present my second Budget as the Chancellor. Prioritizing working families, my focus will be on reducing NHS waiting lists, cutting national debt, and lowering the cost of living. These objectives align with the nation’s needs and my responsibilities as Chancellor.
The commitment to reducing NHS waiting lists stems from the pledge to uplift the NHS, undo the austerity measures imposed by the Tories, and ensure patients receive timely care instead of enduring prolonged waits.
Addressing national debt is crucial as diverting a significant portion of funds to debt interest hampers investments in vital sectors like education, healthcare, law enforcement, and communities.
Tackling the cost of living is paramount, given its impact on households. High prices disproportionately affect ordinary families, exacerbating financial strain. The upcoming Budget will introduce measures to alleviate this burden, reflecting the government’s efforts to support households.
Initiatives such as extending the freeze on prescription charges, capping rail fares, establishing school breakfast clubs, and curbing ticket scalping demonstrate the government’s commitment to easing financial pressures on citizens. The Budget will further expand on these efforts.
The ability to alleviate the cost of living is attributed to the economic stability reinstated by the government and prudent spending practices to avoid past mistakes. Measures to combat waste, fraud, and misallocation of funds will ensure resources are directed where they are needed most.
The upcoming Budget aims to benefit individuals and families, fostering a fairer, stronger, and more secure Britain.
