A man has been apprehended by the police after allegedly killing his 17-year-old daughter for wanting to marry someone from a different caste. The incident involved the man shooting his daughter, placing her body in a tarpaulin bag, attaching stones to it, and discarding it in a nearby river.
Authorities were alerted by a neighbor who noticed the teenager missing since September 23 and heard gunshots and screams from the man’s residence on that day. The girl’s body was discovered two days after she went missing.
Upon investigation, the man provided evasive responses that aroused suspicion among law enforcement. He later confessed to the crime, revealing that the fatal altercation stemmed from the daughter’s desire for an inter-caste relationship.
The accused reportedly shot the girl in the presence of her younger sister, wrapped the body in a tarpaulin sack, tied it with a stone, and disposed of it in a river near his ancestral village. Following the retrieval of the body, a postmortem examination was conducted to determine the cause of death.
Initial inquiries indicate that the girl’s wish to marry someone from a different caste led to the tragic outcome. The father, enraged by her insistence on the relationship, resorted to extreme measures resulting in her demise.
This incident follows a similar case where a father confessed to killing his 15-year-old daughter in Pakistan for posting TikTok videos that he deemed inappropriate. Anwar ul-Haq, who had recently returned from the US, faced murder charges after admitting to shooting his daughter, Hira, in Quetta.
Initially attributing the shooting to unidentified individuals, the father later admitted to the act, expressing disapproval of his daughter’s online activities. Ul-Haq had prohibited his daughter from making TikTok videos he found objectionable and objected to her lifestyle choices, leading to the tragic event. Authorities are investigating the motive behind the killing, including the possibility of an honor killing.
