The event took place in Wichita, Kansas, around 2 am on Sunday, with footage showing the woman being forcibly taken by a man. A 22-year-old man has been apprehended in connection with the case, which authorities have linked to alleged domestic violence.
In the video, the 35-year-old woman can be seen screaming as she is seized from behind while wearing a black top and shorts near the front doorbell. Subsequently, she was pulled out of view from the camera’s coverage area. The Wichita Police Department (WPD) confirmed on Tuesday that the woman has been found safe.
Authorities have indicated that the incident appears to involve domestic violence between the woman and her boyfriend and that the woman did not sustain significant injuries. They have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the general populace. A 22-year-old male, believed to be involved in the surveillance footage, has been arrested and faces charges including aggravated battery strangulation, two counts of domestic simple battery, and criminal restraint. The case details will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney for further legal proceedings.
Prior to the woman’s discovery and the boyfriend’s arrest, a $2,000 (£1,496) reward was offered by the police. The WPD expressed gratitude to the public for sharing the video and images that helped raise awareness about the incident, leading the woman to contact the authorities.
The incident has raised concerns among neighbors, prompting discussions about past occurrences. A local resident, Angelica Verduzco, emphasized the dangers associated with such incidents, stating that kidnappings have always been a concern in the area.
