The F1 season has kicked off with George Russell securing a win in Melbourne. Fans are in for a treat as the calendar will span the globe in 2026. Sky has announced a significant enhancement for its customers to elevate their live sports viewing experience.
The upcoming update will revolutionize viewer interaction with a new smart sidebar on screens during race weekends. This feature will provide access to Race Control, Recap for quick replays of exciting moments, and real-time in-race standings. Additionally, dedicated driver and team pages will offer onboard cameras, enhanced race data, explanations, and improved navigation.
To access these new features, Sky Sports subscribers using Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and Sky Q devices will receive them for free. While an exact launch date is yet to be confirmed, the rollout is expected later in the season, with existing Sky Sports subscribers receiving the update at no extra cost.
Formula 1 enthusiasts can catch every practice, qualifier, and race live with Sky’s Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, saving £336 in an introductory deal. This package not only includes Sky Sports access but also provides around 100 TV channels and complimentary subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+.
In an email to Express.co.uk, Sky stated that fans can anticipate a more immersive TV viewing experience during race weekends with the new sidebar. Beyond the F1 upgrade, Sky has unveiled its Ultimate TV subscription plan, which combines major streaming services at a reduced monthly price of £24.
Included in the £24 Ultimate TV plan are Netflix Standard with Ads, Disney+ Standard with Ads starting from March, HBO Max Basic with Ads launching on March 26, Hayu with selected shows available from March, and over 130 Sky channels. Sky emphasizes the value of this bundle, consolidating approximately £20 worth of streaming services in one convenient package.
