In a TikTok video, she demonstrated an effective deep-cleaning technique for washing machines, emphasizing the importance of regular maintenance to avoid mold growth.
To rejuvenate a machine, all that is required is white vinegar and tea tree oil. Chantel mentioned in her video description that if clothes start to smell musty, the washing machine might be the cause, and this method is not only simple but also leaves clothes smelling fresh. To begin, mix one cup of white vinegar with 20 drops of tea tree oil to create a cleaning solution. Focus on the rubber seal of the machine by soaking cloths in the mixture and placing them in the gaps around the seal, allowing the solution to work while attending to other parts of the appliance.
Additionally, ensure to place a receptacle under the drain of the washing machine, usually located at the bottom right corner, to drain any stagnant water and remove debris. Detach the detergent drawer to clean it with warm, soapy water to eliminate any residue. After letting the cloths in the seal soak, wipe down the rubber seal with a clean cloth to eradicate any remaining mold spots, restoring its appearance.
