“WhatsApp Developing Premium Subscription ‘WhatsApp Plus'”

Date:

A majority of apps and services typically require a monthly subscription fee for access, and now WhatsApp may be joining this trend. It has come to light that WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is in the process of developing an enhanced version called WhatsApp Plus, as discovered by the observant team at WABetaInfo.

The upgraded version is expected to introduce exclusive features like the ability to pin up to 20 chats (up from the current limit of 3), enhanced customization options including changing app themes, icons, and accent colors. Users might also enjoy bonus stickers, access to extra ringtones, and more interactive chat responses.

WABetaInfo reported, “WhatsApp is working on a new premium subscription plan named ‘WhatsApp Plus’ for the standard consumer app, providing additional features in exchange for a monthly fee. This plan is still in development for both Android and iOS platforms and has not been officially released yet.”

In addition to the initial feature upgrades, Meta could potentially introduce more enhancements over time for users willing to pay for the premium service. While WhatsApp has not officially confirmed these developments, testing versions of WhatsApp Plus have been identified, indicating ongoing progress.

It is important to note that the regular free version of WhatsApp will remain available, and users will not be obligated to subscribe to the premium plan. The premium offering is aimed at providing added benefits to users willing to pay a monthly fee voluntarily.

More information about WhatsApp Plus is anticipated to be disclosed soon. Stay tuned for updates.
