Verstappen Escapes Penalty in Hungarian GP Drama

Date:

Max Verstappen was not penalized after a post-race investigation following the Hungarian Grand Prix. The incident in question occurred during a tense battle with Lewis Hamilton, where Verstappen executed a daring overtake maneuver on lap 29 at turn four. Despite the Ferrari driver being forced off track, there was no contact between the cars.

Both Verstappen and Hamilton were called to discuss the incident with the stewards, but Hamilton opted not to attend. Ultimately, it was decided that Verstappen did not illegally force Hamilton off track, and no penalty was imposed. The stewards concluded that there was no contact and the incident did not qualify as improper driving.

In the race, Verstappen finished ninth, earning two points for Red Bull, while Hamilton struggled and finished in 12th place. The race victory went to Lando Norris, who held off his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. Norris’s strategic prowess secured him his fifth win of the season, narrowing the gap in the championship standings.

George Russell claimed third place in his Mercedes after Charles Leclerc faced challenges towards the end of the race. The competitive season continues as Norris closes in on Piastri in the championship standings.
