A detailed interactive map has unveiled the extensive impact of Pizza Hut closures on UK high streets, highlighting one region set to lose seven out of its nine restaurants. Administrators recently disclosed the closure locations of 68 Pizza Hut establishments in response to the chain’s economic challenges. As part of a restructuring effort, 11 delivery sites will also cease operations, putting 1,210 employees at risk of job loss.
Following the closure program, only 64 Pizza Hut outlets will remain operational throughout the UK. The Greater Manchester area emerges as one of the hardest-hit regions, with seven out of nine Pizza Hut locations marked for closure. Conversely, the East Midlands region, including restaurants in Lincoln, Nottingham, Mansfield, Thurmaston, and Leicester, has been spared from the closure plan.
DC London Pie, the company managing Pizza Hut’s UK dine-in restaurants through a franchise agreement, appointed administrators from FTI, a corporate finance firm. Yum! Brands, the American hospitality conglomerate that owns Pizza Hut globally, has acquired the UK restaurant operations in a pre-pack administration deal, safeguarding 64 sites.
In January 2025, Directional Capital took over 139 Pizza Hut restaurants, preserving 3,000 jobs following the collapse of the previous operator, Heart with Smart Limited. DC London Pie, established by Directional Capital to oversee Pizza Hut outlets in the UK, traces its roots back to the opening of the first UK Pizza Hut in 1973 in Islington, London. Initially operating over 260 restaurants nationwide with a workforce of 10,000 employees, Pizza Hut now plans to maintain its presence across the UK with a combination of company-owned and franchise restaurants.
The company’s strategy includes operating 351 delivery Huts across the UK, Northern Ireland, and Ireland, alongside the 64 acquired dine-in sites resulting from the recent deal.
