“UK Braces for Heavy Snowfall as Cold Spell Looms”

Date:

A severe cold spell is expected to hit the United Kingdom in the coming days. Following a relatively mild start to December, a significant change in weather is on the horizon, with heavy snowfall predicted to blanket 14 counties. Weather charts indicate a sharp drop in temperatures after a period of milder conditions.

According to WXCHARTS’ weather maps, areas across the country may experience snowfall as early as Friday, December 12. Residents in Argyll and Bute and the Highlands could wake up to snowy scenes, with the Highlands forecasted to receive 1mm of snow per hour and Argyll and Bute half that amount.

The snowfall is expected to persist throughout the day, reaching Durham and Cumbria by 3pm. These regions are likely to see 0.5mm of snow, although the possibility of snow settling remains uncertain due to concurrent heavy rainfall.

By Thursday, December 18, extensive parts of northern England and Scotland are anticipated to be covered in snow. Glasgow could experience up to 2mm of snow per hour, while Stirling and other areas like Cumbria and Lancashire may see around 0.5mm of snow hourly. Additionally, arctic conditions are set to affect Gwynedd in north-west Wales and the Vale of Glamorgan in south-east Wales.

The Met Office’s weather outlook for the upcoming days warns of a potential decrease in temperatures, particularly in northern UK regions, with a chance of wintry conditions. Stay informed by making Daily Mirror your ‘Preferred Source’ on Google News for timely access to valuable news updates.
