“Trainer Duo Celebrates Victory at Punchestown”

Date:

An impressive victory was achieved by a trainer overseeing just a duo of horses, alongside his jockey brother, as Oscars Brother triumphed in the Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown.

Competing in this Grade Two event were contenders from renowned stables in Ireland, including Gordon Elliott and Henry de Bromhead, along with Rocky’s Diamond, who finished fourth in the 2025 Stayers’ Hurdle.

The victory went to handler Connor King with Oscars Brother, guided by his brother and jockey Daniel, who skillfully steered the seven-year-old to success at the Punchestown track in County Kildare.

Maintaining a prominent position throughout the race, Oscars Brother, the 7-4 favorite, showcased solid jumping skills and finished three lengths ahead of Koktail Divin from De Bromhead’s stable.

Before this three-mile race, Oscars Brother had prepared on soft to heavy ground by participating in a novice chase at Galway.

The duo now harbors hopes of nurturing a Grade One contender at their stable, which currently houses only one other racehorse in training.

Reflecting on the victory, Daniel expressed his delight at riding a successful horse trained by his brother, emphasizing the quality of Oscars Brother and the competitiveness of the race.

Looking ahead, Connor, a former jockey, mentioned the possibility of aiming for the Grade One Faugheen Novices’ Chase at Limerick during the Christmas period, highlighting Oscars Brother’s transition from hurdles to chasing.

Considering the success achieved and the potential for growth, Connor recalled the previous year’s race with only three participants and saw it as a positive target for future aspirations.
