BBC One encountered a technical issue during the broadcast of the latest Panorama special, leading to a temporary interruption. Viewers watching the Undercover in the Police episode were surprised to see a title card apologizing for the technical error instead of the expected content.
The program was disrupted when a BBC Radio 3 advert unexpectedly played during presenter Emma Vardy’s review of undercover footage. Subsequently, a staff member from the Newsnight set was accidentally shown on screen, wearing a headset microphone and looking down at the floor.
After a brief pause, the Panorama special resumed, but the technical error title card remained on screen for an additional two minutes. Viewers took to social media to share their thoughts on the incident, with some humorously questioning the situation.
In response to the disruption, a BBC spokesperson issued an apology, attributing the interruption to a technical fault. The full episode was made available on BBC iPlayer for those who missed parts of the broadcast.
The Panorama special focused on undercover footage exposing police officers making racist and inappropriate remarks. The footage revealed disturbing comments from Metropolitan Police officers advocating violence against suspected illegal immigrants and making derogatory statements about rape and minority groups.
Following the investigation, eight officers and one staff member from the Met have been suspended in light of their behavior. The Commissioner, Sir Mark Rowley, condemned the actions as disgraceful and contrary to the values of the police force.
