Security personnel removed a fan from the court who approached Jannik Sinner, the world No. 2 tennis player, at the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh. Following his 6-2, 6-3 win against Stefanos Tsitsipas, Sinner was met by the individual who seemed interested in his jacket post-match.
The fan engaged in a brief conversation with Sinner, gesturing towards his jacket, before security intervened and escorted the fan away. Meanwhile, commentators Prakash Amritraj, Feliciano Lopez, and Laura Robson discussed Sinner’s performance in the background.
During the interaction, the fan shook hands with Sinner and repeatedly pointed at his jacket. While the conversation was not audible due to the lack of microphones, Sinner appeared confused as the fan tapped his jacket and then pointed to himself.
A security guard swiftly intervened, removed the fan, and allowed Sinner to leave the court. Sinner had returned to competition after withdrawing from the Shanghai Masters due to challenging weather conditions.
The defending Shanghai Masters champion and other players struggled with the extreme climate conditions. Sinner faced severe cramps during his third-round match against Tallon Griekspoor, leading to his withdrawal from the tournament.
Arriving in Riyadh to defend his Six Kings Slam title, Sinner attributed his cramps in Shanghai to mental factors. He expressed that he had learned from the experience and felt prepared for the current tournament.
Despite the setback in Shanghai, Sinner bounced back at the Six Kings Slam by defeating Tsitsipas and advancing to the semi-finals, where he is set to compete against Novak Djokovic. Sinner acknowledged the familiarity between them and emphasized his aggressive gameplay strategy, particularly on return games.
He highlighted the importance of serving effectively during crucial moments and noted the unique court conditions in Riyadh.
