Ryanair and easyJet passengers may soon be allowed to bring two cabin bags on flights without extra charges. Currently, these airlines permit passengers with basic tickets to bring one small personal item onboard, with additional luggage incurring extra fees.
Ryanair has adjusted the dimensions of the personal bag allowed due to changes in EU regulations. Passengers flying with Ryanair can now carry hand luggage measuring up to 40 x 30 x 20cm, an increase from the previous 40 x 20 x 25 cm limit.
According to Plymouth Live, easyJet’s personal bag dimensions already meet the new requirements. Additionally, a potential EU rule change could enable travelers to bring a cabin bag up to 100cm, along with a personal bag, without added costs.
For this proposed regulation to take effect, it needs support from at least 55% of EU member states. If approved, the rule would be applicable to all EU flights and routes to and from the EU.
Members of the European Parliament are advocating for children under 12 to be seated with accompanying passengers at no extra charge. While airlines are currently not obligated to seat children with their parents, the Civil Aviation Authority recommends that they do so.
The CAA emphasizes the importance of having young children and adults seated close together for safety reasons during emergency evacuations.
