Dr. Goodall, a UN Messenger of Peace and the Founder of the Institute, was praised for her revolutionary discoveries as an ethologist and her unwavering advocacy for the preservation of our natural environment.
Having spent nearly 70 years working closely with chimpanzees, Dr. Goodall, who was honored with the title of dame, vividly recalled the moment when she gained acceptance from the chimp community led by a primate named David Greybeard. This special bond with the apes was captured on film by a cameraman who later became her husband, showcasing their extraordinary relationship.
Born in London in 1934, Dame Jane embarked on her research journey with free-living chimpanzees in Tanzania in 1960.
