Police have released a statement regarding the tragic passing of young apprentice jockey Tommie Jakes. The talented jockey, who had 59 wins in three seasons on the Flat, died shortly after his last race at Nottingham Racecourse on Wednesday.
Numerous tributes have poured in for Jakes, with a minute’s silence held at Chelmsford, where he was scheduled to ride two horses trained by Ismail Mohammed.
Suffolk Police confirmed the sudden death of a man in Freckenham, stating that it is not considered suspicious and that a report will be submitted to the coroner.
Jockeys at various racecourses have been honoring Jakes by wearing black armbands. Paul Mulrennan, a top jockey, shared fond memories of the teenager, emphasizing his cheerful and amiable nature.

Jakes, who worked for George Boughey in Newmarket, achieved his final victory on Fouroneohfever earlier this month. Boughey praised Jakes not only for his talent but also for his kindness and hard work.
