McDonald’s recently removed a menu item due to quality control issues. The fast-food chain withdrew the new Caramel Loaded McFlurry from all outlets nationwide after receiving numerous complaints about the dessert. Launched on September 10 as part of the seasonal menu, the McFlurry was made of soft dairy ice cream with caramel cubes, white chocolate-covered shortbread pieces, milk chocolate chips, and caramel sauce.
Customers criticized the dessert for having “rock hard” caramel cubes. One customer, Helen Richards, warned others on Facebook about the issue. Other dissatisfied customers shared their negative experiences on Reddit, with one user comparing the texture to “gnawing on a roof tile.”
Despite some customers enjoying the hard caramel pieces, McDonald’s responded to the feedback by confirming the withdrawal of the Caramel Loaded McFlurry from their menus due to quality control concerns. A McDonald’s spokesperson expressed disappointment over falling short of their quality standards and apologized for any inconvenience caused.
