The event commenced on an emotional note as Justice Minister Alex Davies-Jones delivered a moving rendition of “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” accompanied by Hillsborough activists. Margaret Aspinall, who lost her son James in the 1989 tragedy, delivered a passionate speech advocating for swift passage of a new law to prevent cover-ups.
The atmosphere later transitioned to karaoke, with Cabinet members Wes Streeting and Lisa Nandy energetically performing Oasis’ “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” Streeting also took the stage to sing “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.”
