Staying at an airport hotel is all about convenience for me, so I’m not too concerned about having a room with a nice view; as long as there’s a decent bed and a clean bathroom, I’m satisfied. However, my recent experience at Hyatt Place London Heathrow Airport has raised my expectations to new heights.
Upon entering my room, it became immediately evident why this hotel is rated 4 stars. The room was spacious, featuring a welcoming king-size bed, tea and coffee amenities, a large bathroom stocked with quality toiletries, ample storage space for my belongings, and a desk positioned next to a full-length mirror.
The standout feature of the room was undoubtedly the view from the window, which overlooked Heathrow’s bustling runway. Although I’m not one to spend time watching planes near airports, there was a unique thrill in observing aircraft taking off and landing, especially on the eve of a journey.
Despite being able to enjoy the view of planes from my room, I was pleasantly surprised by the room’s soundproofing; the engines’ noise was completely muted, which was quite impressive given the proximity to the runway.
The peaceful ambiance, comfortable bed, and blackout curtains ensured that I had a restful night’s sleep. Considering my early 4 am airport departure, those few hours of sleep were invaluable, and I was grateful to wake up feeling refreshed. The room was equipped with everything necessary for a pleasant stay, from a coffee machine to a spacious bathtub and shower, making it a perfect starting point for a day of travel.
Furthermore, the hotel boasts an onsite restaurant, The Gallery, where guests can enjoy a satisfying meal without breaking the bank. I indulged in a delicious mozzarella salad, roast salmon, and some ice cream. Despite the quiet atmosphere of the restaurant on a Wednesday night, I was content with a peaceful dinner before retiring to rest.
A crucial aspect of an airport hotel is its accessibility, and Hyatt Place excelled in this regard. The hotel is conveniently located on the Hopper bus routes, providing a free shuttle service to the terminals. Although the first bus departs around 5:20 am, I opted for an Uber for an earlier airport arrival, albeit at a slightly higher cost.
In terms of pricing, rooms at Hyatt Place London Heathrow Airport start at £120 per night, offering good value considering the room standards and captivating runway views. With 314 rooms available, guests can select rooms with guaranteed runway or airport views, or opt for more budget-friendly options without specific views.
