“Hamilton Pushes for Ferrari Overhaul Amid Struggles”

Date:

Lewis Hamilton has once again communicated with Ferrari executives to emphasize his requests for revisions to the team’s operational procedures. The seven-time world champion has faced challenges since transitioning from Mercedes to Ferrari last year.

Hamilton, aged 40, is yet to secure a podium finish with his new team and currently holds the sixth position in the drivers’ standings before the upcoming United States Grand Prix, trailing his teammate Charles Leclerc by 48 points.

During the Belgium Grand Prix in July, Hamilton disclosed his ongoing efforts to submit a series of “documents” to Ferrari throughout the season in an attempt to alter his fortunes and enhance performance following a challenging initial period.

Reports in August indicated that Hamilton’s correspondences focus on proposed modifications to the car and the team’s operational strategies, particularly the inter-departmental communication during race weekends.

According to the Italian publication Corriere della Sera, Hamilton has dispatched another set of documents to Ferrari’s ‘top management,’ underscoring the necessity for comprehensive changes within the team.

It has been noted that Hamilton expected to have a more significant influence on decision-making at Ferrari but has encountered unforeseen challenges and internal politics instead.

Hamilton’s circumstances at Ferrari have drawn parallels to those of four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, who struggled to instigate change during his tenure with the team from 2015 to 2020.

In preparation for his new team, Hamilton sought advice from Vettel in January, engaging in discussions to exchange insights and experiences as fellow world champions.

Following a qualifying session at the Singapore Grand Prix, Hamilton observed an area for improvement within Ferrari’s operations, highlighting issues with tyre temperature management that affected their performance consistently.

Hamilton expressed the need for Ferrari to address the tire temperature loss, which impacts their competitiveness and emphasized the importance of optimizing pit lane strategies for improved performance.

Formula 1 enthusiasts can access live coverage of every practice, qualifying session, and race with Sky’s new Essential TV and Sky Sports package, offering significant savings of £192, inclusive of Sky Sports access, over 100 TV channels, and complimentary subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+.
