“Google Releases Patch for Android Dolby Audio Vulnerability”

Date:

Google has released a crucial security patch for Android devices to address a significant vulnerability affecting Dolby audio components. This bug could potentially allow hackers to execute malicious code through audio attachments. Although Google fixed the issue on its own devices last month, the patch is now being rolled out to all Android phones.

Adam Boynton, Senior Security Strategy Manager EMEIA at Jamf, emphasized the importance of addressing this flaw, known as CVE-2025-54957, which allows attackers to run malicious code through Dolby’s DD+ Unified Decoder without user interaction. Users are advised to update their Android devices promptly to safeguard their personal data.

Regular patching is highlighted as a key measure to mitigate mobile security risks, regardless of using Android or iOS devices. It is recommended that iPhone users also check for updates to ensure their devices are secure.

To update your Android phone, follow these steps:
– Open the Settings app on your device.
– Navigate to System and then Software updates.
– Check the update status and follow the on-screen instructions.

Ensuring devices are up to date remains crucial in combating modern mobile threats and safeguarding user data.
