EE has unveiled an upgraded version of its Scam Guard service to combat the increasing incidence of scams. This enhanced protection aims to shield mobile customers from fraudulent activities, particularly those targeting sensitive data. Available to all EE pay-monthly subscribers for a monthly fee of £2, the service offers advanced defense mechanisms against evolving scam tactics.
Despite the additional cost, EE assures its customers of significantly improved security measures. Since its inception in 2024, Scam Guard has successfully thwarted 169 million scam and spam attempts. With the latest upgrade, EE anticipates doubling the prevention of scams in the next year.
The core of the new Scam Guard features AI Triple-Lock Protection, comprising Safe Email, Safe SMS, and Safe Web functionalities. These elements leverage Norton’s Genie AI engine to provide round-the-clock proactive scam protection for email, real-time scam detection in text messages, and defense against malicious online activities.
Moreover, the upgraded service introduces Scam Assistant, enabling customers to receive instant feedback on the safety of various online content. Additionally, Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring functionalities track suspicious online behavior and promptly notify users to take necessary actions.
Malcolm Cubitt, Director of Product, Mobile at EE, emphasized the importance of staying ahead of fraudulent activities in a technologically evolving landscape. He highlighted EE’s commitment to enhancing cyber security through innovative solutions like the revamped Scam Guard service, aimed at protecting and supporting customers effectively.
