Celebrity Lawsuits Looming Over ITV Broadcasts

Date:

ITV is preparing for a surge of legal actions following revelations from I’m a Celebrity… participant Janice Dickinson, who disclosed her intention to sue the network over an injury sustained during the show.

Representatives from the law firm handling Dickinson’s case have been flooded with inquiries from various celebrities seeking guidance on potential legal actions related to their own experiences on television programs. Notably, high-profile individuals have reached out to celebrity law firm Taylor Hampton to discuss issues such as injuries, alleged misconduct behind the scenes, and what they perceive as a lack of responsibility across popular shows like Big Brother and Love Island.

A source close to the situation stated, “Since Janice made her grievances public, the response has been constant. Her status as an international celebrity has spread the news globally, demonstrating that even a major network like ITV can face challenges. This has emboldened other stars to come forward with their concerns.”

Recent reports indicate that Janice Dickinson, aged 70, is pursuing a £700,000 lawsuit against ITV following a serious accident that resulted in head and facial injuries while filming the show in 2023. The incident occurred during her participation in an all-stars edition of the program shot in South Africa when she tripped in the dark en route to the restroom.

Insiders allege that a nightlight in the camp was not illuminated, leading to Dickinson’s fall. In an interview, she expressed her disappointment, stating, “ITV must be held accountable. My face was severely injured. It was a terrifying ordeal.” She claimed to have been left unattended and bleeding in darkness for a prolonged period, emphasizing ITV’s failure to fulfill their duty of care.

Identified as the world’s first supermodel and having been romantically linked to notable figures like Sylvester Stallone, Mick Jagger, and Warren Beatty, Janice has officially lodged her claim at the High Court in London.

Executives at ITV are now apprehensive about a potential wave of legal challenges across various shows, including Love Island, Big Brother, and The Voice. Janice’s case is not an isolated incident, as other celebrities have previously taken legal action against ITV for injuries suffered on their programs.
