Camilla Kerslake, the wife of Chris Robshaw, has expressed remorse for her earlier remarks regarding the abilities of some contestants on the TV show Strictly Come Dancing.
The former England rugby captain, aged 39, faced challenges in the initial live performance, ending up second-to-last with 14 points alongside his professional dance partner Nadiya Bychkova.
This season’s lineup features celebrities with prior dance experience, including Lewis Cope from Emmerdale and Love Island’s Amber Davies, who joined as replacements.
In response to the situation, Love Island’s Amber Gill shared on Camilla’s Instagram: “Unpopular opinion: I think having people with so much dance experience is unfair.” Camilla replied, acknowledging the significant differences in experience.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Camilla revealed her regret, admitting she wishes she had refrained from speaking out. She expressed concern that her comments might negatively impact Chris’s performance on the show.
Addressing the infamous “Strictly curse,” which suggests celebrity couples may split post-show, the couple took proactive steps to build a friendship and avoid any potential issues.
In jest, Chris commented on the curse in an interview with The Sun, emphasizing his and Nadiya’s dedication to their dancing and teamwork. The couple, together for ten years, have two sons named Wilding and Hunter.
Regarding contestants with dance backgrounds, Amber Davies previously showcased her talents on the West End, while Lewis Cope achieved runner-up status on Got To Dance.
Amber defended herself against accusations of having an unfair advantage, highlighting her beginner status in ballroom Latin dancing despite her past training in musical theatre.
Strictly Come Dancing is set to return at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
