Bulgaria has been identified as the prime destination for budget-friendly summer vacations this year, according to recommendations for families. TravelSupermarket’s recent findings during the peak booking season in January unveiled the top countries offering the most cost-effective options for all-inclusive sunny holidays in 2026. Bulgaria secured the top position with an average price of £760 per person for a week-long stay, followed by Morocco at £852 and Malta at £862.
The data was gathered from family holiday searches conducted between October 5 of the previous year and last week, focusing on travel plans between May and September 2026. Significant price variations were observed among popular holiday destinations. The average cost for a week in Bulgaria has decreased by £54 per person, amounting to a 7% drop since the previous summer. Conversely, Cyprus emerged as the priciest option among the selections, with an average cost of £1,186 per person.
Spain, including the Balearic and Canary Islands, secured the fourth spot on this year’s list at £888 per person, with prices remaining relatively stable from 2025. Turkey occupied the 11th place with an average cost of £1,057, while Greece followed closely in 12th place at £1,096. Croatia ranked as the 10th most affordable destination for this summer, with an average cost of £1,046 per person. Notably, the cost of a typical trip to Croatia has decreased by 12% compared to the previous year, making it £136 cheaper for this summer.
For long-haul travel options, TravelSupermarket highlighted the destinations offering the best value for families. Cape Verde was identified as the most cost-effective at £1,247 per person, followed by the United Arab Emirates (£1,297), the Dominican Republic (£1,664), and Mexico (£1,694).
Chris Webber, head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, expressed optimism about Bulgaria’s resurgence as a top affordable all-inclusive destination. He also noted that Tunisia and Morocco continue to be among the top five cheapest countries, offering great value for families. The considerable price decrease in Croatia is seen as positive news for families who had concerns about the destination becoming too expensive following the adoption of the Euro in January 2023.
