A British tourist has alleged that he was sprayed with pepper spray by a bouncer for recording his friend dancing at a bar in a popular vacation spot. Joe Snowball visited Benidorm on September 8 to create content with two friends for a video about the resort. During their final night of drinking, a man invited them to another bar where an incident unfolded.
While filming his friend dancing, Joe was asked by a waitress to delete the video from his phone. When Joe refused and insisted on deleting it himself, a bouncer reportedly sprayed him and his friend with pepper spray. Subsequently, they were seen outside the bar, eyes bloodshot and in discomfort, with milk being poured over their heads to alleviate the burning sensation. Joe experienced stinging in his face and eyes, requiring two days to recover, while his friend had to seek medical attention upon returning to the UK.
Despite attempting to report the incident to the police in Benidorm, Joe claims they ignored him and drove away. Expressing his disappointment, Joe from Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, mentioned their intention to celebrate after filming content and admitted to being inebriated. The encounter began when they were approached by a man offering free drinks and entry to a different bar.
Describing the chaotic events that followed, Joe explained how the waitress confiscated his phone and attempted to delete the video, leading to the use of pepper spray by a bouncer. The intense pain and discomfort caused by the spray left Joe temporarily blinded and in agony. Despite seeking assistance from a nearby shop and resorting to applying milk to alleviate the effects, the aftermath of the incident lingered for days.
Reflecting on the experience, Joe expressed his disbelief at the lack of police response and the subsequent disappearance of the bar. He highlighted the challenges faced during their visit to Benidorm, labeling it as one of the worst holiday destinations in Europe. The incident left him wary of nightlife staff and more cautious in similar situations.
Moreover, Joe clarified that the purpose of their video was to showcase the reality of holidaying in a negatively rated destination. He emphasized the unexpected turn of events and the impact it had on their perception of Benidorm.
